Batesville's first Fiesta Hispana was Sept. 29 at Liberty Park. The event, sponsored by the Hispanic Community Advisory Committee of Batesville, offered authentic food, music, dancing and kids' activities. Manning the outdoor cooking area were (from left) Nidia Hernandez, Rosendo Alvarez, Gregorio Nuñez, Ricardo Camarena and Hector Meneses, Batesville. Other volunteers here were Victor Cisneros and Juan Hernandez, Sunman. Attendees could order duritos (a crunchy snack topped with salsa) and a variety of tacos and tamales, then choose from among four sauces.
